Qigong

Qigong (or Chi Kung) is a moving meditation that can reduce your stress level while providing gentle stretching. Qigong is good for you whether or not you believe in its metaphysical powers. For those who do believe, Qigong it a technique that gathers, refines, and focuses the power of the Universe to provide wellness and healing for self and others.

If you can, learn Qigong from a teacher. Roger Jahnke, Michael Winn, and Francesco Garripoli are amazing teachers of national renown. You can locate a local teacher through the National Qigong Association.

You can also learn Qigong from a video or a book. I recommend Jerry Alan Johnson's video Chi Kung:the Healing Workout and Roger Jahnke's book The Healer Within.

Yoga

There are so many styles of yoga. As you consider various yoga forms and teachers, be careful not to over-stress your body - especially if you are of a certain age. Personally, I am attracted to the gentle twists and stretches of hips and back found in Svaroopa® yoga.
